Imara

Personal training that connects you, your coach and your actual gym

Imara is Swahili for strong. Most training apps assume an empty gym and a perfect week. Imara starts from your coach's plan, knows the equipment at the gym you go to, and adapts when a machine is busy or a week gets hard, while your coach sees what actually happened.

Security and privacy

Your data is sensitive. We treat it that way.

Training logs, health signals, payments and travel plans say a lot about a person. These are the rules we build to.

  1. Encrypted in transit and at rest

    Every connection uses HTTPS. Disks and backups are encrypted, and the most sensitive fields get their own layer of encryption.

  2. Least access by default

    Each part of the system gets only the access it needs. Each app has its own database login and can't reach the other's data.

  3. Staff access needs a reason

    In Imara, support staff see your data only after stating why, for a limited time, and every view is logged.

  4. Two-step sign-in for staff

    Admin tools need a second factor, and the most sensitive payment actions need two different people to approve.

  5. No ads, no trackers

    Our apps contain no advertising or third-party tracking code. We never sell or rent personal data.

  6. Less data, kept shorter

    Your Apple Health history stays on your phone unless you choose to sync it, location is used on your device, and records have retention limits.

  7. Your data, your call

    You can export your data or delete your account whenever you choose.

  8. Built for Kenyan law

    Designed around the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, including breach notice duties and consent for sensitive data.

How we work

Reliability you don't have to think about.

Good software is mostly invisible. It loads, it saves, it is there tomorrow. Here is the work behind that.

  1. Tested before release

    Automated tests run on every change, including tests that prove one user cannot read another user's data.

  2. Released carefully

    Database changes run first, every release is recorded, and any release can be rolled back.

  3. Watched after release

    Health checks and alerts tell us about a problem, so we can act before most people notice it.

  4. Backed up and restored, for real

    Encrypted backups every night, kept in a separate location, and a restore test every week so we know they work.

  5. Honest when things go wrong

    Plain-language explanations, and notice within the time the law requires if your data is ever affected.

Questions people ask us

Do you sell or share my data?

No. We do not sell or rent personal data, and our apps have no advertising or third-party tracking code. We share data only with the services needed to run the apps, such as cloud hosting, network security and payment providers, under contract.

Where is my data stored?

On Microsoft Azure servers in South Africa, encrypted at rest, with encrypted backups in a separate location. Traffic passes through Cloudflare, which protects the apps from attacks. Each app's privacy policy lists the details.

Can your staff see my workouts or trips?

In Imara, only to help you, only after they give a reason, only for a limited time, and every view is logged. In Patorana, your journal and photos stay on your phone unless you choose to sync them.

How do I delete my account?

From each app's account settings, or follow the steps for Imara or Patorana. Records the law requires us to keep, such as payment records, are kept only as long as required.

How do I report a security issue?

Email security@terrigencelabs.com with the details. Please give us time to fix it before sharing it publicly. We'll keep you updated.
